Some weeks ago I visited an exhibition of invertebrates in the botanical garden of the Faculty of Science. It far exceeded my expectations, I thought there would be just some photos and pinned bugs, but (most of) the exhibits were alive - there was my favorite button-spider, all European giant beetles, slugs & snails and even aquatic animals such as crayfish and swimming bugs. But what I couldn't take my eyes off were the giant caterpillars of the Japanese Oak Silkmoth, which were feeding on oak leaves. They were as thick as your index finger and totally fascinating - I just had to paint a picture of one
